SoCal Church Plants (SCP) is a multi-denominational network who exists to collaborate with like-minded churches, groups, and individuals to encourage, equip, and establish new church plants in Southern California. The following is a description and declaration of commitments needed to be adopted by those seeking to become church planters of the SCP network. To be eligible for membership, one must have read and agreed with the network Evangelical Statement of Faith and theological distinctives and must commit to humbly, joyfully, and peaceably work alongside any and all the others in the SCP network to further the work of gospel-centered church planting in our region.
 

 

THE LEADERSHIP OF SOCAL CHURCH PLANTS IS COMMITTED TO THE FOLLOWING:
 

PLANTING CHURCHES
We will promote and pursue the planting of new churches as a primary missional strategy amongst church leaders, church members and other groups and denominations. We seek to make church planting accessible and achievable for those involved through providing training, tools, and coaching that equips leaders and their teams as they prepare, launch and sustain healthy church planting churches.

LOCALLY
We will prioritize proximity when considering potential planting projects and seek to enable as many members to participate as close to their home city as is possible.
 

TOGETHER
 We will facilitate the formation of relationships and alliances amongst like-minded
churches, groups, and individuals that enable new planting projects to form and flourish.

 

 

TYPES OF CHURCH PLANTERS: (Select planter type & declare intended participation)
 

EXPLORING PLANTER

• Any individual male who would like to commit to a submitted process of exploring whether or not God may be calling him to be an elder qualified church planter. This includes:

  • Membership at one of the SCP Network churches, faithfully serving and tithing.

  • 1-3 year process of instruction, assessment, coaching, and preparation for placement

• Desired Network Church name:__________________________________________

 

LAUNCHING PLANTER

• Any individual male who would commit to a submitted process of confirming his call and preparing to start planting an SCP network church. This includes:

  • Membership at one of the SCP Network churches, faithfully serving and tithing.

  • 6-18 month process of instruction, assessment, coaching, support raising and preparation for the public launch of the church plant. ( A detailed church planting proposal is required).

  • Submitting to the SCP Network advisory board for a 3-year period upon launch.

  • Committing to the proposed fund raising schedule and launching with 60+ adults.

THE MEMBERS OF SOCAL CHURCH PLANTS ARE COMMITTED TO THE FOLLOWING:

 

DOCTRINAL INTEGRITY

• I agree with the Evangelical Statement of Faith and theological distinctives of this network.

• If there are changes to my beliefs or distinctives, I agree to communicate these to the Executive Director and Board of Directors immediately.

 

NETWORK PARTICIPATION

• I agree to faithfully, humbly and consistently participate to the best of my ability, learning and serving the Lord alongside those in the network under the authority of the advisory board.

• If I am adopted as a church planter, I commit to participate in the launching and growing of a network church for a minimum of 3 years, baring disqualification or critical illness.

• I commit to pursue and abide by the following proposed funding strategy:

  • Year 1 –50% SCP -40% Planter-10% church

  • Year 2 – 50% SCP -30% Planter-20% church

  • Year 3 – 25% SCP -30% Planter-45% church

  • Year 4 –30% Planter-70% church

  • Year 5 –15% Planter-85% church

  • Year 6 –100% church

 

RELATIONAL UNITY

• I commit to being a spiritually, physically and relationally healthy person who seeks unity through mutual fellowship, prayer and support.

• I will resolve any differences by assuming the best, and asking clarifying questions before drawing conclusions. I will speak well of others, seeking any forgiveness or reconciliation that may be appropriate.

 

I understand and agree with the entirety of this covenant document and by signing below I, willfully enter into an agreement of committed participation of the above-specified church planter type, guided process and will be expected to attend and/or fulfill all specified commitments as appropriate. I understand and agree to be an active, communicative and peaceable network planter to the glory of our Lord Jesus and to the furthering of His kingdom through the planting of gospel-centered churches in our region.
